Nature Notebook

Lubbock is lucky to have over seventy parks within the city limits with a large variety of wildlife including birds, reptiles, mammals and fish. Our city also falls within the Central Flyway, and throughout the year a large number of migratory birds fly through or winter in our region. This makes Lubbock parks a great place to view wildlife and to enjoy the outdoor experience with family and friends.

In the 1930's, Prairie Dog Town was established in Mackenzie Park, and it has been enjoyed by resident and visitors alike throughout its history. Prairie Dog Town recently underwent remodeling and is now open to the public!
